Abstract
► A new method was proposed to determine the critical fracture reduction with the help of high-speed photography. ► The fracture mechanism was analyzed in hot compression of Ti40 titanium alloy. ► Based on Oh criterion, a novel high-temperature fracture criterion, which considered the effect of temperature and strain rate, was developed. ► The new criterion was implemented in DEFORM-3D simulation software by means of FROTRAN language to forecast the fracture position and initiation reduction.
