Abstract

The densification behavior of hot-pressed Cu–8 at%Cr–4 at%Nb alloy powders and concurrent effect of densification on the mechanical behavior have been studied as a function of applied stress and sintering temperature. The densification of alloy powder has been observed to be strongly inhibited by the presence of fine scale distribution of Cr2Nb precipitates. It is interesting to note that the mechanical properties are linearly related to sintered densities at different stress values and temperatures. Finally, the structure property correlation has been established.
