Abstract
⺠Internal load transfer and compressive damage in an interpenetrating composite is studied. ⺠Unloading and reloading in tension initiates damage in alumina phase. ⺠Load reversal causes Bauschinger effect in aluminium solid solution. ⺠Compressive damage occurs by cracks at 45° through the ceramic rich regions.
