Abstract
⺠Non-equilibrium segregation of B in steel depends strongly on the cooling rate. ⺠A higher austenitization temperature reduced the B hardenability effect. ⺠An increase in B concentration at γ grain boundaries accelerates the B precipitation. ⺠The loss of B hardenability effect is due to intragranular borocarbide precipitation. ⺠The controlled cooling after hot deformation increased the B hardenability effect.
