Abstract
⺠Austenitic stainless steel biomaterial ISO 5832-9 was deformed in hot working conditions. ⺠Mid stacking fault energy influenced the flow stress behavior. ⺠Competition between softening mechanisms shows a delay of dynamic recrystallization. ⺠Large deformations. ⺠Easy workability was only found at high/intermediate temperatures and low strain rates.
