Abstract
⺠Laser shock peening (LSP) applied on open hole thin aluminium specimens. ⺠Realizing the hole after the LSP treatment increases fatigue life. ⺠Residual stress measurements, fractographic and FEM analyses confirm findings from fatigue tests. ⺠Practical implications - possibility of “in production” use of LSP technology for thin-walled structures.
