Abstract

The present research deals with the effect of anisotropy on ratcheting behavior. For this investigation cold rolled and batch annealed 1.2 mm thick interstitial-free high-strength (IFHS) steel sheet was tested at room temperature laboratory environment. Experimental finding shows that IFHS steel sheet has inferior ratcheting life in 45° to rolling direction and superior ratcheting life in the rolling direction. The variation of ratcheting life with different angle to rolling direction can be explained by the alteration of yield stress to ultimate tensile strength ratio with the angle to rolling direction.

► Effect of anisotropy on ratcheting. ► Variation of r ratio with SP-axis angle to rolling direction. ► Change in ratcheting behavior with UTS to YS ratio.
