Abstract
► Effects of heat treatment on the ageing response of a Ti-6Cr-5Mo-5V-4Al alloy. ► Temperatures of 440-500 °C result in the greatest strengthening. ► Ageing response declines at higher temperatures as α precipitates coarsen. ► Fast heating rates result in coarser, more uneven distributions of precipitates. ► Fast heating rates exhibit rapid loss of hardness due to coarsening.
