Abstract
⺠New metallic glass/porous SiC interpenetrating phase composite (IPC) was prepared. ⺠The specific strength of the IPC is 20% higher than the monolithic metallic glass. ⺠The compressive fracture mode changes from a shear mode to an axial splitting one. ⺠Fractographies and microstructural evolution consist with deformation behavior. ⺠Stress concentration at interface tips is responsible for fracture mode change.
