Abstract
⺠The hemmability of two AA6016-type aluminium alloys in T4P temper state is studied. ⺠High Mg content and long solutionizing times increase the precipitation potential. ⺠Inhomogeneous grain boundary particles form by precipitation of alloying elements. ⺠Large amount of particles combined with high matrix strength reduce the hemmability. ⺠Intergranular fracture is promoted by grain boundary debonding and voids formation.
