Abstract
► Elemental zinc forming a transient eutectic liquid phase used to stabilize foam. ► Transient liquid formed below cracking and hydrogen release temperatures. ► Hydrogen loss was reduced and foaming was improved while increasing stability. ► In situ microstructure characterization of the transient liquid phase was shown. ► Foaming temperatures were lowered by the use of zinc in selected concentrations.
