Abstract
â¶ A novel edge-constrained plane strain FE model is used to study material microstructure influences on fracture mode. â¶ Novel tools are developed to consider the grain structures in microstructure-based FE analysis. â¶ A modified Voroni-cell interpolation method is used to map measured grain structures into FEM. â¶ A simplified user material model is used to represent the behavior of grains of different grain orientations. â¶ The model shows similar results compared with experimental observations.
