Abstract
In this study, the microstructure, and mechanical properties of various heat-treated AZ80N specimens are investigated. Experimental results show that the 400 °C solution-treated AZ80N specimens will produce the AlLi and Mg17Al12 precipitates after aging at 170 °C and 250 °C, respectively, and exhibit an obvious phenomenon of precipitation hardening. The aging precipitates of AlLi and Mg17Al12 phases can significantly improve the tensile strength of AZ80N alloy, but reduce its impact toughness.
