Abstract
In this paper, temperature and stress fields of the continuous casting tundish cover were calculated by using the ANSYS finite element software based on the physical description of its failure under thermal fatigue condition. The fatigue life of the critical point was also analyzed using fatigue damage mechanics and modified S–N curves. Besides, the temperature, stress, and failure process of the tundish cover were reproduced; the finite element model and the solving conditions were determined. Thus, a new fatigue life prediction method is proposed, at the same time, thermal fatigue failure mechanism and its influencing factors are discussed.
