Abstract
The stress corrosion cracking (SCC) behaviors of as-cast AZ91 magnesium alloy in deicer solutions were investigated using constant load. When deicer concentration was 0.5Â M, the critical stress threshold was about one third of yield strength of AZ91 alloy; when deicer concentration decreased to 0.005Â M, the critical stress threshold would increase to three forth of yield strength. In deicer solutions, hydrogen embrittlement (HE) was the main mechanism for the SCC of AZ91 alloy.
