Abstract
An investigation to examine the application of the LICON methodology to a low-alloy ferritic steel is described. The study involves creep crack incubation testing of a 1% CrMoV steel at 550 °C and associated numerical and finite element analyses. It is demonstrated that the methodology may be applied to low-alloy ferritic steels, but with refinements to the way in which the concept was originally developed for the advanced 9% Cr steels.
