Abstract

The damage accumulation in creep is predicted on the basis of long-term strength and the data for damage in short-term experiments. The material is injection-moulded short glass fibre reinforced polyoximethylene. An unconventional small angle X-ray refraction technique is applied for damage registration. It is assumed that the damage accumulation in creep, as well as under short-term loading depends on the loading percentage. Equations for damage accumulation under short-term loading are used with the assumption that the loading percentage in creep is the ratio between the constant load and the long-term strength. The damage predicted is compared with the experimental data for damage accumulation in creep.
