The mechanical properties and formability of cross-rolled Mg–2MM–2Sn–1Al–1Zn (ETAZ2211) and Mg–3MM–3Sn–1Al–1Zn (ETAZ3311) alloy sheets have been investigated. Comparative specimens have been fabricated by conventional rolling method. Grain size of cross-rolled specimens is smaller than that of conventionally rolled specimens. In addition, grain size of cross-rolled ETAZ3311 is smallest among the investigated specimens. The cross-rolled specimens exhibit a good combination of strength and elongation when compared with that of conventionally rolled specimens. Occurrence of yield phenomena indicates that the activation of non-basal slip is particularly accelerated in cross-rolled specimens. The cross-rolled ETAZ3311 specimen exhibits the best formability in the conical cup test at 200 °C. The good formability of the cross-rolled ETAZ3311 specimen can be ascribed to reduction of anisotropy due to the presence of small and well-distributed particles.
