Abstract
Training effects on damping capacity in Fe-20Â mass% Mn alloy have been investigated. As training treatments, the thermal training (only thermal cycling) and the thermo-mechanical training (thermal cycling with deformation) are carried out. Both training treatments improve the damping capacity of the Fe-Mn alloy with increasing the number of training cycles. Comparing improvement ability of the damping capacity between both treatments, thermo-mechanical treatment can improve it more effective. It is found that these training treatments can improve both the damping capacity and the hardness of the Fe-Mn alloy.
