Abstract

Using X-ray diffraction, the effects of warm peening on the residual stresses in the deformation layers of TiB2/6351Al composite have been investigated and the microstructures have been examined systematically. The results show that the values of the compressive residual stresses were increased by warm peening. The domain size and the dislocation density decreases and increases, respectively, with the increase of the initial peening temperatures. Warm peening optimized the residual stresses and the microstructures of the TiB2/6351Al composite.
