Abstract

By thermogravimetric analysis technique, TG curves of isothermal oxidation of graphite were obtained and the curves of weight loss versus reduced time were also obtained. The trend of weight loss versus reduced time curves of oxidation of graphite for different temperatures is unified in the temperature range with identical oxidation mechanism. Based on the reduced time plot method, modeling of the TG curves is presented by the method of polynomial regression of weight loss versus reduced time curves without a need of kinetic analysis. By comparing the experimental and simulated TG curves, the method of polynomial regression of weight loss versus reduced time curves can better predict weight loss of the isothermal oxidation of graphite.
