Abstract
The oxidation behaviors of novel in situ synthesized (TiB + TiC + Nd2O3)/Ti composites at 600 °C were studied in air atmosphere. The phases of the oxidation layer were identified by X-ray diffraction (XRD). The surface and the cross-section of the oxidation layer were examined by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The research results show that the oxidation-resistant ability of (TiB + TiC + Nd2O3)/Ti composites is higher than that of TiC/Ti composites with the same volume fraction of reinforcements. In (TiB + TiC + Nd2O3)/Ti composites, the oxidation-resistant ability and oxidation activation energy improved with the increasing of the volume fraction of reinforcements.
