Abstract
Ambient temperature mechanical properties of Al–8.5Fe–1.3V–1.7Si/15 vol.%SiCP composite sheet prepared by a spray deposition (SD)–rolling process were investigated. The experimental results show that the densification method of the as-deposited preforms has an obvious effect on the mechanical properties of the as-rolled sheets. The σb and δ were 535 MPa and 7%, respectively, for the sheet with the preforms extruded at 490 °C and then rolled at 490 °C. When the preforms were pressed at 450 °C and then rolled at 490 °C, the obtained σb and δ were up to 620 MPa and 9.5%. The microstructures, density and rigidity are also examined.
