Abstract
Crystallization of Cu60Zr20Ti20 amorphous ribbon induced by severe plastic deformation and by linear heating thermal treatment has been compared using differential scanning calorimetry, X-ray diffraction and in situ synchrotron radiation. Thermal treatment of the as-quenched ribbon results in the joint formation of hexagonal Cu2ZrTi and hexagonal Cu51Zr14 crystalline phases, on contrary, intensive plastic deformation at room temperature induces the precipitation of only one hexagonal phase.
