Abstract
A simple and inexpensive method to modify the surface of Ti-6Al-4V alloy by low oxygen partial pressure fusing (LOPPF) technology using Al-13 at.% Si alloy particles, has been proposed. The increase in the weight growth of the LOPPF Al-Si coating formation proceeds with fusing time in accordance with the parabolic law. After cyclic oxidation test at 1073 K for 150 h, a remarkable improvement of the oxidation resistance of the LOPPF Al-Si coating is obtained compared with Ti-6Al-4V alloy, however, for the LOPPF Al-Si coatings, prolonging the fusing time is adverse to improve their oxidation resistance.
