Abstract
Amorphous alloys of Ni59Zr20Ti16Si2Sn3 and Ni53Nb20Ti10Zr8Co6Cu3 (at.%) with glass forming ability (GFA) of ∼3 mm were adopted to deposit amorphous metallic coatings by high velocity air fuel (HVAF) thermal spraying and kinetic metallization (KM) technique. Microstructural investigation showed that partial amorphous Ni59Zr20Ti16Si2Sn3 and Ni53Nb20Ti10Zr8Co6Cu3 alloy coatings were obtained by HVAF thermal spraying, while a fully amorphous Ni53Nb20Ti10Zr8Co6Cu3 alloy coating by KM method. The fully amorphous metallic coating exhibited a higher corrosion resistance than those of the partial amorphous metallic coatings in 1 M HCl aqueous solution.
