Abstract

The microstructure and texture evolution of AZ91 magnesium alloy that is compressed at 400 °C and 1.0 s−1 are studied by electron back-scattered diffraction patterns (EBSP). During the compression process, the recrystallized grains nucleate along the pre-existing grain boundaries. The fraction of low angle boundaries with misorientation of 2–4° decreases, while that with misorientation of more than 4° increases. The basal plane gradually rotates to about 90° to the compression direction.
