Abstract
The Gorsky effect in Ta-O-H alloys due to hydrogen diffusion was measured in order to investigate the interaction between oxygen and hydrogen in tantalum. It was observed that the diffusivity of hydrogen is reduced with the oxygen concentration. The retardation of the diffusion was analyzed with a trapping model. Kinetic factors of the detrapping process were evaluated, which suggest that the detrapping process is non-classical, i.e. tunneling process. The magnitude of the elastic interaction between hydrogen and oxygen was also investigated by measuring the relaxation strength of the Gorsky effect in a specimen pre-strained at high temperatures. It was clarified that the strain field of the trapped hydrogen atom was almost isotropic and that hydrogen was trapped at the tetrahedral site neighboring an oxygen atom.
