Abstract
Based on the optimized thermodynamic data from literature and the phase equilibrium calculation, the contact interfacial reactions and the phase formation sequences of Ni/GaN joints were analyzed theoretically under the reported experimental conditions. The phase formation sequences and the apparent spatial phase sequences were obtained. It was revealed that the phase formation sequences and the apparent spatial phase sequences were dominated by many factors, such as the temperature range, time period and the amounts of the original layers of the diffusion couples.
