Abstract

The impact corrosion and abrasion behavior of three kinds of steel used in the liner of wet-grinding machine in metallurgical industry is investigated under impact energy of 2.7 J in acid–ironstone slurry, the test was carried out by a modified MLD-10 tester. It was shown that under the same simulated conditions, the impact corrosion and abrasion property of the low carbon high alloy steel is better than the high manganese steel and the medium carbon alloy steel. Through the SEM observation of the worn surface and the subsurface optical metallographic analysis of the sample, it was found that the impact corrosion and abrasion mechanism of low carbon high alloy steel mainly was micro-cutting, spalling of extruded harden edge, slight corrosion wear and slightly fatigue spalling, the impact corrosion and abrasion mechanism of high manganese steel was relatively deep fatigue spalling and heavy corrosion wear, the mechanism of medium carbon alloy steel is heavy brittle spalling and corrosion wear.
