Abstract
Self-standing pyrrole/2-formylpyrrole copolymer films with hierarchical nanostructures were successfully prepared without using a surfactant to clarify their self-assemble mechanism. The nanostructures by electron microscope techniques significantly provided well-defined and extended conjugation nanodomains that resulted in the structural color.
► Pyrrole films copolymerized with 2-formylpyrrole were prepared without a surfactant. ► The films were self-standing and had high mechanical properties. ► The films provided the structural color with high conductivity. ► The hierarchical nanostructures by self-assembly in the films were clarified. ► The structure was attributed to well-defined and extended conjugation nanodomains.
