Abstract
Detailed investigation of single crystals of α-boron using Raman spectroscopy was performed under elevated pressures and temperatures. The behavior of the Raman modes under pressure was studied both theoretically and experimentally. The results were compared with the literature data.
► Raman modes of α-boron crystals were experimentally measured up to 35 GPa and 200 °C. ► Raman modes of α-boron were theoretically calculated up to 100 GPa. ► Gruneisen mode parameters were measured. ► P–T dependence equation of A1g mode frequency was determined. ► Results were compared with literature.
