Abstract

The third-order nonlinear optical properties of Schiff’s base derivatives and the effect of metal nanoparticles (Ag & Au) on their nonlinear optical response were studied. Colloidal metal nanoparticles were prepared by laser ablation. ZZ-scan technique with a 7ns Nd:YAG laser pulses at 532 nm were employed for the measurements. The compounds exhibit good optical limiting properties at the wavelength used. The materials used in the present work indicate that these materials are promising candidates for photonics applications.
