Abstract
⺠We detect ultrathin-grating coupled surface-plasmon polariton waves (GC-SPPW). ⺠We measure mass transport in an ultrathin film from the evolution of GC-SPPW. ⺠Monomer detachment from step edges dominates mass transport in rare gas films.
