Abstract
⺠We investigated the lattice stability and thermal equation of state of β-La. ⺠We reproduced the dip along [111] direction in the phonon calculation. ⺠The large softening around the L point indicates a structural instability under pressure. ⺠We predict the accurate thermal equation of state at high pressure and high temperature.
