Abstract
We probe a field induced reentrant transition in Nd0.5Sr0.5MnO3 through resistivity and magnetization measurements. This transition is observed while warming, provided the measurement field is lower compared to the cooling field. Moreover, for the same measurement field, this reentrant transition shifts to a lower temperature for larger cooling fields. Since this transition occurs well below the closure of thermal hysteresis involving two long-range ordered states through the first order transition, it has a special significance related to the low temperature state of Nd0.5Sr0.5MnO3. These observations not only bring out hitherto unexplored novel features but also indicate that the low temperature state of Nd0.5Sr0.5MnO3 is not in thermal equilibrium and reinforce the earlier assertion that there is a glass-like arrested phase in this system.
