Abstract

The elastic anisotropy factor, isothermal compressibility, and thermal expansion of Zr2SC single crystals are determined in the pressure range 0–50 GPa. With increasing temperature, its compressibility increases and Debye temperature decreases; with increasing pressure, the anisotropy factor, the cc-axis and in-plane bulk moduli, longitudinal wave and transverse wave velocities increase, while the compressibility of Zr2SC decreases. The results are interpreted in terms of the anharmonicity of lattice vibrations.
