Abstract

The studies of the electrical resistivity and the thermoelectric power for the CeNiAl4 compound are reported. Both the methods exhibit features characteristic of the Kondo system. The estimated Kondo temperature is about 40 K. It is found that separation of the phonon contribution based on the nonmagnetic reference compound LaNiAl4 changes significantly the course of the temperature dependence of the electrical resistivity. Nevertheless, in each case the low-temperature region deviates from the typical T2T2-type dependence indicating a tendency to a non-Fermi-liquid behavior. The thermoelectric measurements allowed us to locate the 4f peak slightly above the Fermi level.
