Abstract
In this work we calculate the magnetocaloric effect in the doped compounds (R1âcαRcη)Ni2, where Rα and Rη stand for rare earth elements. The calculated isothermal entropy change and the adiabatic temperature change upon variations of the applied magnetic field, for the compounds (Er1âcDyc)Ni2 and (Tb1âcHoc)Ni2 are in good agreement with the available experimental data. We also propose a composite material based on the doped compound (Tb1âcHoc)Ni2 to work as magnetic refrigerant in the temperature range between 15 and 35 K.
