Abstract
We suggest that Lamb wave band gap in one-dimensional phononic crystals can be substantially enlarged by using the combination of periodic and Fibonacci quasiperiodic composite thin plates. A narrow band also can be obtained by using Fibonacci quasiperiodic or the combined composite thin plates. This is possible because each substructure shows a different band gap which is different from those in the phononic crystals and photonic crystals of the bulk waves. This effect has been demonstrated by using the finite element method.
