Abstract
Polycrystalline bulk perovskite TbMnO3 were synthesized by conventional solid-state reaction, magnetic and transport and dielectric properties were examined, antiferromagnetism was observed near 10 K, and semiconductor transport behaviour was found within measurable temperature range. Especially, an extraordinarily high low-frequency dielectric constant (∼104) near room temperature was observed, but below 200 K the constant sharply decrease to less than 100, two apparent dielectric relaxations appeared in loss tangent, which was interpreted by the hopping of localized carriers and the thermally excited relaxation process.
