Abstract

The phase equilibria of the Dy–Fe–In system were investigated in the whole concentration range and the isothermal section was constructed at T = 870 K, employing X-ray powder and single crystal diffraction analyses. One ternary compound, namely Dy6Fe1.72In, exist in the Dy–Fe–In system at this temperature. The crystal structure of new indide was determined by X-ray single crystal diffraction. The Dy6Fe1.72In compound crystallize in Ho6Co2Ga structure type (space group Immm, cell parameters a = 9.373(2), b = 9.458(2), c = 10.208(2) Å, R1 = 0.0372; wR2 = 0.0384). The iron sites show partial occupancy in the structure of this compound.
