Abstract
⺠TiAl-based alloys with in situ formed silicides and carbides were synthesized. ⺠The near granular γ matrix with α2 phases along with some silicides and carbides dispersing in it was obtained after HIPing and annealing process. ⺠Inclusion of Si and C in the mechanically alloyed precursors before reactive sintering through HIPing process could improve the high temperature strength up to 600 °C. ⺠The composites deformed at 800 °C suggest a promising route for hot workability of TiAl-based alloys.
