Abstract

The metallic porous materials have been fabricated from the phase separating Fe–Cu and Co–Cu binary alloys on the calculated critical composition by the selective dissolution method. The interconnected phases are observed by electron energy loss spectroscopy mapping in as-melt-spun samples. Because of the difference of electrochemical activity of separated phases, Fe rich, Co rich, and Cu rich phases could be selectively dissolved in nitric acid solution. The fabricated porous sizes were varied widely from a few tens to about a few hundred nanometers depending on the cooling rate difference in as-melt-spun samples.
