Abstract
⺠Nanocrystalline and microcrystalline powders were used for D-gun alumina coating. ⺠Nanocrystalline powder coating was tribologically superior. ⺠The coatings fracture along inter lamellar boundary rather than crystallite boundary. ⺠Finer microstructure and nano-particulate inter splat regions improved tribological properties.
