Abstract
⺠FeSi was in situ synthesized to prepare FeSi/Si3N4 composites. ⺠Addition of Fe3Al promoted sintering and improved fracture toughness. ⺠The toughening mechanism of FeSi was discussed. ⺠This opens new possibilities for in situ toughening of Si3N4 ceramic.
