Abstract
► Oxidation resistance of (W1 − xCrx)90Nb10 alloys scales with Cr content at ≤ 1200 °C. ► Damage caused by cyclic oxidation is more severe than that by isothermal exposure. ► Cyclic exposure of (W0.7Cr0.3)90Nb10 at 1200 °C shows mass-loss by WO3 vaporization. ► Formation of ternary oxides in oxide scales helps in protection against oxidation. ► Optimum Cr/W ratio is required for oxidation resistance of (W1 − xCrx)90Nb10 alloys.
