Abstract
⺠Sillimanite was converted into mullite, alumina and silicon carbide. ⺠Transferred arc plasma process was used for carbothermal reduction of sillimanite. ⺠Free energy minimization principle was used to predict the products formed. ⺠Choice of plasma operating conditions and sillimanite-carbon ratio decide products.
