Abstract
⺠A proper content of Al2O3 additive would help to limit the formation of W2C in sintered WC materials. ⺠WC-6.8 vol.% Al2O3 has improvement in fracture toughness and transverse strength compared with WC. ⺠Crack-bridging by Al2O3 particles and transgranular fracture mode in WC-matrix were found. ⺠The addition of Al2O3 particles to WC facilitates sintering.
