Abstract
⺠TiC synthesized with very low coefficient of friction and high wear resistance. ⺠Effect of process gas composition and exposure time on these properties are studied. ⺠The difference in growth mechanisms and growth rate of TiC is brought out. ⺠Amount of carbon and its graphitization on TiC is vital for reducing friction.
